Rick served as pastor of Schoharie United Presbyterian church for nine years. During that time, he reorganized their finances, brought the cemetery into the black, reorganized both the Deacon's and the Session so that they operated more efficiently and more effectively. Session meetings were brought to a two hour time limit (which usually worked). This included a 30 minute time for spiritual leadership development.
Rick is currently the pastor of The Presbyterian Church of Hagerstown in Hagerstown, MD. This was once a large downtown church with over 900 members. The membership has plummetted over the years to 54. Rick is leading them through a process of discernment to help them figure out what God is calling them to do and how to do it. Like so many city churches, the building is beautiful but overwhelming. The needs around them are huge.
